Bhubaneswar: Good news for air travellers as Alliance Air is all set to connect two State capitals- Bhubaneswar and Raipur from the Veer Surendra Sai airport in Jharsuguda.

Alliance Air, the subsidiary company of Air India limited will start its flight operations from June 1, 2019.

Jharsuguda airport director, SK Chauhan informed that the airlines company was awarded three routes- Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Kolkata under the Regional Connectivity (RCS) Udan scheme 3.0.

“A lot of government officials, employees and other corporate houses were eagerly waiting for the resumption of flights on these routes. The airlines company has set up necessary infrastructure and also started ticket bookings,” said Chauhan.

Chauhan further informed that Alliance Air shall operate ATR-72 type aircraft on these routes with a seating capacity for 72 passengers. The flying time to both these capital cities (Bhubaneswar and Raipur) from Jharsuguda will now take nearly an hour which otherwise takes nearly six to ten hours by train.

Official sources said the flight from Bhubaneswar airport will land at Jharsuguda at 1010 hours and deport back after a brief stopover of 25 minutes to Bhubaneswar. Similarly, the flight from Raipur will touch Jharsuguda airfield at 1815 hours and depart at 1840 hours.
