Alliance Air flight services commence from Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: Bringing more cheers to the people of Jharsuguda, Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, commenced its commercial flight operations from the city-based Veer Surendra Sai Airport to State capital Bhubaneswar and Chhattisgarh’s Raipur from today.

Carrying 72 persons the Alliance Air's ATR-72 flight reached the Veer Surendra Sai Airport at around 11:10 am. After a brief stopover of 25 minutes, the flight returned to Bhubaneswar airport.

Director of the airport Sudesh Kumar Chauhan said Alliance Air the flight on the Jharsuguda-Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda-Raipur routes.

The Alliance Air airline has been allotted Jharsuguda-Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda-Raipur and Jharsuguda-Kolkata routes to operate its flights under the Centre's Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme 3.0.

Meanwhile, welcoming the introduction of new flights to Bhubaneswar and neighbouring Chhattisgarh, residents of Jharsuguda have also demanded air connectivity to Mumbai and Bengaluru cities as early as possible.

“The scheduled flight operation of Alliance Air is a historic decision and we thank the Prime Minister for this,” said Raghumani Patel, a resident of Jharsuguda.

Expressing similar views, another resident of Jharsuguda Gangadhar Gadnaik said the Airport Authority of India (AAI) should also commence flight services from the city to major airports situated in other cities across the country so that youths of the area will be benefitted.

Earlier, on March 31, SpiceJet had launched flight services from the Jharsuguda airport to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata under the UDAN scheme.
