Alert Odisha constable saves life after emergency resuscitation
Bhubaneswar: Emerging as a life-saver, a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable provided emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid to a passenger who fell unconscious after complaining of chest pain at Bhubaneswar Railway Station today.
Constable Balaram Singh reportedly used what he learned during his emergency training to save the life of a passenger.
“We have been trained to provide CPR to our colleagues in emergency situations. This includes manual pumping of the heart and blowing air through the mouth. After following this process for a few minutes, the person can regain his consciousness.”
The constable was rewarded for his life-saving efforts at the railway station.
“Constable Balram Singh through his presence of mind saved the life of a passenger in serious condition through emergency CPR and first aid. For his efforts, he has been rewarded by the department,” said Pranabindu Acharya, Additional DG, Railways.
