Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Airport Advisory Committee on Wednesday urged the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for Haj flights from Bhubaneswar for convenience of the Muslim pilgrims in Odisha.

Chairing a meeting at the office of the Airport Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on Wednesday, MP Prasanna Kumar Patsani stressed on the need to commence flights from the city airport and ease pilgrimage for the Muslim population of the state .

The MP also suggested starting flight operation to Buddhist circuits as well as Dubai in order to provide more international connectivity from Bhubaneswar.

During the meeting, Airport Director of BPIA, S.C Hota enumerated the achievements of the airport in term of increase in flight operations, growth in number of passengers and efforts undertaken to develop the infrastructure of the airport in the last one year.

Khurda District Magistrate, representatives from Utkal Chambers of Commerce, Department of Tourism, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other members along with station mangers of operating airlines were present during the meeting.
