Air Purifiers to be installed at key locations in Bhubaneswar to reduce pollution

In a bid to curb rising air pollution levels in Bhubaneswar, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to install air purifiers at major locations across the city. The initiative aims to bring down the Air Quality Index (AQI) and improve overall air quality.

According to BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, the project will be implemented in phases. In the first phase, air purifiers will be installed at Jayadev Vihar and AG Square, two of the city’s busiest traffic junctions. The mayor stated that discussions have already been held with the Pollution Control Board to ensure effective implementation of the plan.

Mayor Sulochana Das said that BMC is taking multiple measures to reduce pollution levels in the city. Along with the installation of air purifiers, water sprinkling is being carried out at locations where mechanical sweeping is undertaken, to control dust and particulate matter.

She further added that the installation of air purifiers at prominent city locations is part of a broader strategy to address growing pollution concerns in Bhubaneswar. The civic body plans to expand the initiative to more areas in subsequent phases, based on the results of the pilot implementation.

The move comes amid increasing concerns over deteriorating air quality, especially during winter months, when pollution levels tend to rise.
