Bhubaneswar: Ranjan Kumar Sahoo from Mohammad Nagar Patna village under Jaleswar Tehsil of Balasore district has made the State proud by securing Rank 2 in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)- PG Entrance Examination 2019. The result of the entrance test was declared on June 19.

Ranjan appeared for the post graduation entrance after completing MBBS from AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. He scored 99.996 percentile to get through the entrance of the India’s top medical institution.

"Initially, I could not believe that I came second and that too among 70,000 to 80,000 doctors across India. This was possible only because of the blessings of my parents, God and my hard work,” said an overwhelmed Ranjan.

Ranjan's feat has made his family and parents proud who wish that their son serves the poor after he becomes a doctor.

"As he is going to be a doctor, I would be proud as a father if he continues to be humble and works for the downtrodden,” said Ranjan’s father, Surya Sahoo.

Earlier, AIIMS PG examination was held on May 5 and June 6. The candidates who cleared the entrance will be allotted seats for various post graduate courses (MD/MS/DM 6 yrs/M.Ch 6 yrs/MDS) in AIIMS New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.
