Bhubaneswar: A day after ruckus by party members during the extended executive body meeting of the Pradesh Youth Congress, senior Congress leader Sura Routray today said that lack of coordination between AICC and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) has led to resentment within the party.

Amidst the speculations over change of guard in the youth unit of the Congress, All India Youth Congress General Secretary and Odisha in-charge, Pratibha Raghuvanshi attended a meeting at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar yesterday. However, some aspirants reportedly created ruckus by raising slogans and taking out a rally, in what many believe was a show of strength.

Commenting on the incident, Routray said that AICC had formed a committee for the selection of office bearers for the youth wing of the State unit but it didn't hold any discussion with OPCC, and it led to resentment among a few youth Congress members.

"Even though a committee has been formed by AICC, OPCC constituted another committee and called youths for a meeting and sought their suggestions. There is no coordination between AICC and OPCC. Whatever happened yesterday is not acceptable," said Routray.

He further said that there are some youths in the party who doesn’t have the credibility to even become presidents at panchayat level, but they are lobbying for the top post and creating disturbance. "It's the tendency of PCC that the day when a new president of a Congress unit is elected, there is a group which tries to create disturbances," he added.
