The issue has also sparked heated debate between the BJD and the BJP. Viral videos and images reportedly depict AI-generated scenes involving key political figures such as former CM and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, BJP State President Manmohan Samal, and Dharmasala MLA Himansu Sahu. In one such fake visual, the leaders are shown being attacked by locals — a scene entirely fabricated through artificial intelligence.

This is not the first time such incidents have been reported. During the 2024 General Elections, similar deepfake campaigns had caused concern nationwide. The Election Commission of India (ECI) had subsequently issued guidelines instructing parties and candidates not to misuse AI. The ECI also made it mandatory for all AI-generated visuals to carry a clear disclaimer and the details of the creator.

The Odisha CEO has reiterated that if any political group or individual is found producing or circulating fake AI videos that could mislead or influence voters, immediate action will be taken as per election laws.
