Agitating stamp vendors lock up Puri Sub-Registrar office

Puri: Office bearers of the Puri Stamp Vendors' Association locked up the Puri sub-Registrar office today opposing introduction of e-stamping facility.

As per allegations, due to the e-stamping facility, business of stamp paper vendors has been adversely affected due to which it is becoming difficult for them to sustain their livelihood.

The association further stated despite repeated appeals to the State government no action has been taken forcing them to resort to indefinite strike.

"We urged the State government to look into the matter but nothing has been done. Though the Revenue Minister has directed the officials to allow usage of physical stamp paper below a particular threshold, the decision has not been executed. Despite repeated discussions, no action has been taken and we have decided to launch an indefinite strike," said Sukant Mohanty, president of the Puri Stamp Vendors' Association.
