After shunned elderly man donates property, son welcomes him back
Jajpur: A day after reports of an elderly man deciding to donate his entire property to the State government made the headlines; the son of the old man today sought administrative intervention to resolve the dispute and assured to take back his father into the family.
On Thursday, one Khetramohan Mishra of Muraripur village in Jajpur filed his will papers before the district authorities mentioning that after his death, his entire property should go the government and not his family members. However, his son, Surya Mohan Mishra today met the Collector and sought help in resolving the dispute with his father.
“I have urged the administration to intervene so that my father would return to our family and I promise to take care of him. If he has some issues, I assure to resolve them amicably. I request everyone including the media not to blame me and my family because I want to amend everything,” said Surya Mohan.
He also threatened to commit suicide if he is blamed further in the incident.
“The elderly man’s son sought our help to resolve the dispute because he is concerned for being in the media limelight since past few days for wrong reasons. He has requested us to resolve the dispute which I think is unlikely since it is completely a family matter. So I have asked them to resolve the dispute within the family,” said Jajpur Collector, Ranjan Kumar Das.
It may be noted that Khetramohan left his house a few days ago accusing his son and daughter-in-law of torturing him. On Thursday he told media that he has requested the district administration to claim his entire property after his death and also said that he wanted to spend the rest of his life at an old age home.
Khetramohan said that he even does not even want his son to perform his last rites, and also expressed his desire to donate his body for someone else’ welfare.
