Bhubaneswar: After the Odia question papers of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) exam went viral on social media on February 22, rumours related to circulation of English question paper on social media started making rounds a few minutes after the start of the exam on Monday. However, the Board has refuted the allegations.
As per reports, the photographs of the question paper were allegedly doing rounds on Whatsapp and other social media platforms minutes after the commencement of Matric examination on the second day. Sources said, the Set A question paper was allegedly made viral on social media from Saintala area of Bolangir district.
Meanwhile, the incident triggered resentment among the students and their guardians. “I have written well in both Odia and English exams and if I have to appear the papers again, that will definitely bring extra pressure,” said a Class X student to OTV in Bhubaneswar.
Another student from Cuttack said, “The Education Minister had assured that question papers will not get leaked further after Odia question papers went viral on social media. But, I heard that English question papers too were leaked today; it's disappointing. I have worked really hard for the exams but such leaks will help some students score well without putting any effort.”
Parents are of the view that such incidents have raised concerns over the credibility of BSE in conducting the Matric exam. "The leak incidents have put the career of our children at stake,” rued a parent in Bolangir.
On the other hand, BSE president Jahan Ara Begun rubbished the leak reports stating that the original question papers are completely different from the papers that are being circulated on social media.
“The examinations were conducted smoothly across the State today. We matched the question papers that are being telecast on some news channels with the original one and found it totally different,” clarified Ara.
Ara further said, “There's no need to get tensed over such rumours and students should concentrate on their exams and studies.”

Meanwhile, the district education officer (DEO) could not be reached for comments on the incident.
Earlier on Friday, question papers of Odia had surfaced on social media in Nuapada district and Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district, hours after the commencement of the examination. The BSE president later in the day confirmed the leak of Odia question paper and directed an enquiry following which 11 persons were suspended while seven others were arrested.
