After Mo School, Odisha set to introduce Mo College campaign
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide an impetus to the higher education, Odisha government has decided to launch ‘Mo College’ programme on the lines of ‘Mo School’ campaign, to allow alumni and other interested individuals to contribute to the development of their alma maters.
“We have decided to launch Mo College drive as old students also have a responsibility towards their educational institutions,” said Higher Education Minister during an adjournment motion in Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.
BJP MLA Mohan Majhi had brought the adjournment motion in the House citing that the quality of higher education has gone down in Odisha.
“It is unfortunate that not a single educational institution from Odisha is in top 100 university list in the country. The higher education system is in a shambles in the State,” said Majhi.
Echoing similar views, senior Congress leader, Narasingha Mishra said, “There are a lot of colleges which do not have teachers, which is one of the criteria of developing quality of education.”
Responding to the statements of the opposition leaders, the higher education minister said that Odisha government is taking necessary steps for filling up the vacant teacher posts in colleges and varsities.
