Jajpur: Close on the heels of a class-VIII schoolgirl delivering a baby inside a residential school in Kandhamal, another minor girl has delivered a baby girl at Baghuapala village under Kalinganagar police limits in Jajpur district on Thursday triggering outcry in the area.

Soon after the girl was delivered, both the baby and mother were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital as their condition became critical.

Members of the District Child Protection Unit have enquired about the health of the minor girl after visiting the hospital today. They informed that all medical expenses for both the minor girl and her baby will be provided from the Red Cross fund.

Last month, a complaint was lodged at the Kalinganagar police station by the family members of the minor girl that she was raped and impregnated by a contractor in Balasore on the pretext of marriage. The family members of the girl have alleged inaction by the police despite repeated complaints.

However, police have assured to launch a probe into the allegations and nab the accused who is absconding.

On January 15, a class-VIII girl delivered a baby at a residential school in Kandhamal stoking a massive controversy in the State. A day later, the infant died at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur while undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, headmistress of the school Radharani Dalai was suspended along with three Assistant Superintendents while 1 health workers (ANM) and 2 matrons were also dismissed.
