Afghan embassys concern over student attack
Cuttack: A team of three officials from the embassy of Afghanistan in New Delhi arrived here on Friday met DCP Amitendranath Sinha and discussed about Thursday’s group clash at Ravenshaw University that had left four students injured including one Afghan student.
“They are very happy with the type of police arrangements, the action we have taken and they are very satisfied. They have not posed any demand before us,” DCP Sinha said.
The embassy officials boarded their flight for New Delhi today itself after meeting the DCP.
Earlier, on Thursday tension had erupted in the unitary university following a group clash between boarders of New P.G. Hostel and some Afghan students. The clash occurred when the foreign students approached the striking boarders and asked them to open the locked up gates.
Four students, including one foreign student, were severely injured in the clash.
This apart, some of the journalists today were on strike in front of Malgodam Police Station protesting against the attack made by the striking students on a scribe who was reporting the incident.
