Bhubaneswar: Elaborate arrangements will be in place to ensure smooth conduct of all the rituals on Maha Shivaratri at Lingaraj temple on March 4. The ‘Mahadeepa’ will be placed atop the temple crown at 10 pm, informed Khurda District Collector Nirmal Chandra Mishra after a review meeting on Saturday.

Keeping in view huge turnout of devotees on Maha Shivaratri, officials of several departments and agencies have been directed to complete pending works before March 1.

However, the representatives of three prominent nijogs of the temple did not attend the meeting.

“Discussion on pending repair works, installation of lights and generators, road repairs, covering the drains by laying slabs were held while the respective departments have been asked to complete works at the earliest. We will also make adequate arrangements to control crowd and ensure smooth darshan by the devotees on Maha Shivratri,” informed Mishra.

Mishra further requested the nijogs to coordinate so that the rituals are not delayed, like last year. “All the arrangements are almost over and the remaining works will be completed by March 1,” he added.
