Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police has put up a notice (Latka in common parlance) at the house of deceased Odia television actress Nikita's in-laws, who failed to appear at the police station despite being summoned several times.

As per reports, the mother-in-law and father-in-law of Nikita were supposed to appear before the Chauliaganj Police but have failed to do so. Earlier in the day, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh had said that  both of them were absconding.

"The other day when our team had gone to their house, they were absconding so the notice couldn't be served. The notice has been served today," Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh said.

On the other hand, Nikita's in-laws have reportedly applied for anticipatory bail.

The Commissionerate Police had received Nikita’s post mortem report on January 9. The report revealed that Nikita died after falling from a height and receiving grievous injuries on her head and chest.

Earlier, Lipan Sahu, husband of deceased actress Nikita was arrested after her father Sanatan Behera levelled murder allegation against the former.

Sahu was arrested after an interrogation at the Chauliaganj Police Station. The actress’ father had brought serious allegations saying that his son-in-law had killed her.

The actress had died at a private hospital on January 5 while undergoing treatment.
