Cuttack: The Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Institute in Cuttack will soon commence post graduate (PG) courses, informed Odisha Health minister Pratap Jena today.

Speaking to media persons after attending the governing body meeting of the institute, Jena said that the State government has taken steps to provide 4-acre land by demolishing the staff quarters of the Industries department for infrastructure development of the cancer centre.

"The institute's name will be changed to 'Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer'. After the commencement of the courses we will be better equipped in our fight against cancer," Jena said.

For providing better health care services, the post graduate students will be offered courses like surgical oncology and gynecologic oncology, the health minister added.

Apart from the Health minister, officials of SCB Medical College and Hospital were also present during the meeting.
