He bagged the coveted title after touching 2500 Fédération Internationale Des Échecs (FIDE) rating point in National Challengers ‘B’ Open Chess Championship in Bhopal. The ace chess star translated his dream into realty today after defeating Anirudh Despande of Maharastra in the eighth round of the tournament.

The 20-year old talent, who had bagged the international master title in 2010, had grabbed the first norm required for the Grandmaster title in the World Junior Chess Championship in Greece in the same year.

The young master grabbed the second norm for the prestigious title in Dubai Grandmaster Open Chess Tournament and subsequently got the third norm in the International Grandmaster Chess Tournament held in Chez Republic reaching 2495 point in FIDE rating.

His hope for the Grandmaster tag shattered in Greece Open Tournament and Turkey World Junior Chess Championship where he failed to score the required norm.
