A few days ago, an unforgettable scene unfolded at the Puri Srimandir. A man from Rajasthan, carrying his son who lay motionless in a coma, stood before the Lion’s Gate of Lord Jagannath temple in Puri. Overwhelmed by helplessness, he folded his hands and surrendered everything he had- his pain, his hope, and his child’s fate, to the Lord. That moment touched thousands of hearts across Odisha and beyond.

Standing again before the Srimandir, he shared his emotions with his voice trembling with gratitude and fear.

“I believe in the almighty. There has been massive improvement... I don’t have money for treatment of my son. If the Puri administration or the state government could help me in the treatment of my son, I would be grateful. I see Lord Jagannath here,” he said.

The child, frail, struggling, but conscious, is now fighting a new battle-- recovery. And the father, who has already exhausted all his savings, finds himself standing at another crossroads. Faith has carried his son this far, but medical care demands resources he simply does not have.

Devotees Appeal to Odisha CM to Extend Help

Devotees who witnessed the scene gathered around him, offering words of hope. One devotee said, “There should be treatment of the child. It seems he (the father) has deep faith in the Mahaprabhu. If the Odisha government could help the father, it would be a great help.”

Another devotee made an earnest public appeal, directing it straight to the state’s leadership. He said, “Mohan Majhi is the people’s CM. I appeal to the Odisha CM to help the father and extend help for the treatment of his child.”

For the father, this journey to Puri is not just a visit, it is a continuation of a story that began with complete surrender and now stands at the doors of hope. The miracle of his son waking up has reaffirmed his faith, but it has also thrust him into a harsh financial reality.

As he waits near the temple, his son resting beside him, he has no anger, no complaints, only trust that someone will hear him, just as the Lord did once before.

The crowd’s compassion, the devotees’ appeals, and the emotional weight of the moment have reignited discussion about ensuring help reaches people like him who travel miles with nothing but faith and desperation.

As the father steps away from the temple gates, one thing remains unchanged- his hope in Lord Jagannath and the people of Odisha.
