A heartfelt handwritten letter addressed to Goddess Maa Tara Tarini by a young child has deeply moved devotees and temple staff at the renowned Tara Tarini shrine in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The emotional note was discovered on Saturday during the routine counting of offerings from the hundi (donation box) at the shrine, which is dedicated to the presiding deity of the district. Temple officials noticed the letter tucked among the offerings as the donation box was opened.

Though the letter does not mention the child’s name or address, its contents reveal a soul burdened with pain yet filled with faith. Written in simple words, the note reflects the child’s quiet suffering, fear about the future, and an earnest plea for wisdom, education, and protection for loved ones.

Contents Of The Letter

In the letter, the child speaks directly to the Goddess, questioning the hardships faced at such a tender age while placing complete trust in divine compassion. The young devotee asks for education and wisdom, seeks well-being for a sibling, and prays for the happiness and safety of their mother, grandparents, and family. The letter also expresses fear of an unseen enemy and requests the Goddess to remove obstacles from their path, ending with a gentle wish for the deity’s well-being.

Officials Confirm Discovery

Confirming the discovery, Purusottampur Tehsildar Binod Behera said the letter was found by temple staff during the counting of donations. “Our staff came across the letter after the hundi was opened. It was written by a child who poured out their pain and hopes before the Goddess,” he said.
