Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government would fill up 800 lecturer posts lying vacant in 97 colleges across the state within next three months. This was decided at a review meeting of the Higher Education department chaired by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
 
The CM reviewed the vacancy position in all 97 government degrees colleges in the state and directed the higher education department to fill up the posts.
 
"The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has already started the process to fill up 553 posts, which include 272 for junior colleges and 281 for degree colleges, as per the direction of the state government," informed Badrinarayan Patra, Higher Education Minister.
 
The meeting also discussed the faculty crunch at colleges and requirement of students, the minister added.
 
During the review meeting Higher Education Minister Badrinaryana Patra, Chief Secretary JK Mohapatra, Development Commissioner I Shrinivas and Higher Education Secretary Gagan Bihari Dhala were also present.
 
Earlier this month, the OPSC published an advertisement seeking applications for the 281 vacant lecturer posts in various disciplines.
