Vijayadashami celebrations are slated to go ahead with festive fervour even as the Bhubaneswar administration has granted permission for Ravan Dahan at just seven puja mandaps out of 193 currently celebrating Durga Puja across the city.
Reports added that authorities approved the effigy burning at selected locations after ensuring all safety norms and regulations were strictly followed.
Locations Approved for Ravan Dahan
The seven mandaps permitted for the traditional Ravan Dahan include Naharkanta, Barmunda, Janla, KIIT Road, Kapilprasad, Koradakanta, and Bankuala.
In addition, five places in the capital city have been finalised for the ceremonial Bhasani rituals. Officials confirmed that the permissions were granted only after verifying compliance with all safety and procedural requirements.
Grand Preparations at Kapilprasad
Ground reports stated that excitement and anticipation are palpable, particularly at Kapilprasad Puja Committee, where a towering 42-foot Ravan effigy has been meticulously prepared.
The committee claims that its Ravan Dahan will be one of the most spectacular in the city. Preparations have reached the final stage, and the event is scheduled to be held tonight at 8 pm, with large crowds of devotees and onlookers expected despite intermittent rains.
Sources also reported that extensive arrangements and security measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and safe celebration. At the venue, devotees expressed enthusiasm over witnessing the traditional effigy burning, which symbolises the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana.
