5 Puri hotels to be sealed for supplying polluted water
Puri: District sub-collector of Puri issued notices today to seal 5 hotels in the city after their owners failed to appear in court in connection with alleged supply of polluted water to customers.
“Water samples collected from 200 hotels in Puri were tested by the Public Health Department. Later, cases were registered against all those who received negative reports. Five hotels were yesterday served notices after they failed to take any action,” said Puri Sub-collector, Bhavtaran Sahu.
According to sources, in the first phase, water supplied at 56 hotels was tested out of which representatives of 51 hotels appeared in the court. Rest of them did not appear in the court, sources said.
Subsequently, notices were served to those 5 hotels.
Earlier, raids were conducted at 200 hotels during which it came to light that 56 hotels were using polluted water, added sources.
