Bolangir: Forty four boarders of a girls` hostel for SC and ST students were taken ill, 14 seriously, after consuming food at Solabandh in Bolangir district on Sunday, according to Patnagarh government hospital.
The girls developed symptoms of nausea and vomiting followed by loose motion after taking breakfast in Kasturba hostel, hospital sources said.
They were administered first-aid at the community health centre at Ghasian and also at the government hospital at Patnagarh, Hospital Superintendent Kunjabehary Sahu said.
As condition of 14 students did not improve, they were admitted to the hospital, Sub-divisional Medical Officer, Patnagarh, Bhimsen Meher said.
