Bhubaneswar: It will be like a dream come true for as many as 44 underprivileged children from across the State when they get an opportunity to take a joyride aboard a special flight from Bhubaneswar on January 22.

Air India’s subsidiary, Alliance Air will welcome aboard the children mostly hailing from urban poor localities of Bhubaneswar for a 40-minute-long ride in a special flight.

The initiative is a result of joint collaboration of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airport Authority of India and Alliance Air with Government of Odisha. The children including 21 girls and 23 boys have been selected by Swabhimaan- an NGO based in Bhubaneswar.

As per a release of the NGO, the flight will be flagged off at 9.25 am and depart from Biju Patnaik International Airport at 9.30 am.

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has decided to waive all charges for the flight, informed Civil Aviation Joint Secretary Usha Padhee. She also thanked Air India, Alliance Air, Odisha government and social activist SrutiMohapatra for the initiative.

Before the take-off of the flight, an art exhibition ‘MY DREAMFLIGHT’ and performance by children will be organised at the airport.
