Kendrapara: In yet another shocking incident, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 14-year-old boy in Mahakalpada area of Kendrapara district on Friday.

The matter came to light after the family members lodged a complaint at the Marsaghai police station today.

As per sources, the incident occurred on April 20 when the girl had gone to a nearby village with her family members to see the Hanuman Yajna and have food at the feast organised there.

Finding her alone, the 14-year-old accused took her to an isolated place and allegedly raped her.

The girl was later rescued and rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Sources said the family tried to solve the matter in the village itself, failing which they finally knocked the doors of the police today and lodged a complaint against the accused.

The girl’s aunt said, “On April 20 at around 7.30 pm, my niece had gone to see the Hanuman Yajna. The boy took her to an isolated place and raped her. We took her to a private hospital. The matter could not be solved in the village and we were forced to come to the police station.”

In another incident of alleged sexual assault, a six-year-old minor girl is battling for life at the SCB Medical College and Hospital after she was rescued in an unconscious state from the veranda of a school at Salepur Saturday evening.

Sources said a 13-member team of doctors are treating the survivor at the child trauma care department.

The family members alleged that the girl was raped and an attempt was also made to kill her as blood was oozing out of her mouth.

Health Minister Pratap Jena said that the entire incident will come to light after forensic lab report, gynecology report comes out.

Nischintakoili block chairman Sabita Ojha who met the survivor's family members today expressed her sadness and prayed for the recovery of the survivor. "I have requested the government to ensure stringent and exemplary action against the culprit and provide assistance to the survivor," she said

Condemning the frequent sexual assaults, Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda tweeted, “Aghast at news of 2 children gruesomely raped in Salepur & Patkura of my constituency, bringing Odisha's toll to 4 in the last week, & many, many more in recent weeks. I've been speaking against the surge in such crimes & breakdown of law & order in Odisha, & been attacked for it.”

Adding to the recurring incidents, another youth was detained by police today for allegedly attempting to rape an eleven-year-old girl in her house at Tangarsahi in Athagarh block of Cuttack district while a 7- year-old beggar girl was allegedly molested on rooftop of Municipality market complex near Tinimuhani chakk in Kendrapara.

Sources said in the last 48 hours, as many as six cases of alleged sexual assaults have been registered in Cuttack and Kendrapara while police has arrested the accused involved in all the cases.
