Bhubaneswar: Two senior IPS officers of Odisha cadre, Santosh Kumar Upadhyay and Arun Kumar Ray have been awarded President’s police medal for distinguished service on the occasion of Independence day on Thursday.

Similarly, IPS officers -Dhirendra Sambhaji Kutey and Sanjay Kumar have received police medal for meritorious service from chief minister Naveen Patnaik here. In this category nine others who have also received medals from the CM are Bijay Chandra Pradhan, Sukanta Acharya, Radhanath Mahapatra, Santosh Kumar Pattnaik, Sunil Kumar Senapati, Kailashnath Nayak, Sarbeswar Malla, Ratnakar Singh, and Ratnakar Behera.


Names of these personnel were announced on Republic Day this year.

Besides, President’s correctional service medal for distinguished service have been conferred on Nirmal Singh, assistant jailor, Cuttack circle; Sunaram Singh, jailor-cum-superintendent, sub jail, Jajpur Road, and Pradeep Kumar Raj, district probation officer, Puri.

The personnel who have been awarded President’s police medal for gallantry are Brijesh Kumar Rai, Tapan Kumar Nayak, late Resham Bahadur Hamal Thakuri (posthumously), Ranjan Kumar Nayak and late Ranjan Khora (posthumously).
