The escaped UTP identified as Arjun Munda of Bhasma police limits was arrested in connection with a murder case and lodged in Sundargarh jail. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital on March 29 for treatment. 

Surendra was grazing his buffaloes in a village farmland when he suddenly collapsed on the ground.

An illegal gun-manufacturing unit was busted and one person arrested at Rasiguda village under Raikia Police limits in Kandhamal.

BJP leader Golak Mohapatra said, "The BJD should first announce the names of the candidates for 147 Assembly seats. Why the BJD is having a headache for our candidates. Is the ruling party waiting for imported leaders? That is why it is not announcing the candidates for the remaining 75 seats.”

Makaru Panda, a functionary of the Association, said, ”It would have been better for the BJD, if it had fielded the state secretary of the Odisha Kendu Leaf Workers’ Association in Patnagargh. We will strongly oppose the BJD candidate.”

While kick starting his poll campaign by seeking blessings of Lord Baldev Jew and holding a massive road show in Kendrapara, Panda today said that BJP-led NDA will win over 400 Lok Sabha seats including Kendrapara.

BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara Lok Sabha MP candidate Baijayant Panda began his election campaign in Kendrapara after visiting the Baldev Jew temple and holding a massive roadshow.

Apart from Anubhav, actor and former Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak also resigned from the BJD on March 30. A day later, Nayak joined the BJP in Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha School and Mass Education department had earlier announced a change in the timing of classes in Schools across the State.

It is unclear whether the Congress will release the entire list of candidates for all the Assembly and Lok Sabha seats or it will be done in a phased manner.
