Malkangiri: At least nine Maoists including three women cadres and six of their accomplices surrendered before the Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) here on Monday. They decided to quit violence after being tortured in the red camp, police said.
 
The three women cadres, identified as Kumari, Anita and Susila were working for ‘Kalimela-Korkunda Mao Dalam’, officials said. They wished to return to the main stream and fight for the poor tribal within the framework of law, police said adding they all will be compensated as per the guidelines of Odisha government.
 
“Nine Maoists including six Naxal supporters have surrendered before Malkangiri SP today. Eight of them belong to Chitrakonda cut-off area while another one is an inhabitant of Kalimela. They will be rehabilitated as per government’s rule”, Malkangiri SDPO Pramod Bag said.
 
The women cadres were involved in several violent activities, police added.
