A three-tier security system has been enforced at the Odisha Legislative Assembly ahead of its budget session, with extensive police deployment and surveillance to ensure smooth and secure proceedings.

Ahead of the upcoming budget session, security arrangements at the Odisha Legislative Assembly were thoroughly reviewed on Monday. Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, along with Bhubaneswar DCP, inspected the preparedness to ensure smooth proceedings.

The budget session will be conducted in two phases from February 17 to April 8. During this period, a three-tier security cover will be enforced across the Assembly premises.

Around 35 platoons of police personnel, one platoon of SOG commandos, bomb disposal squads, and fire services will be deployed. Additionally, seven Additional DCPs, 22 ACPs, 29 Inspectors, and 111 Sub-Inspectors will be stationed at the Assembly for duty.

The Legislative Assembly and its surrounding areas have already been turned into a high-security zone with barricading and intensified surveillance. A triple-layered security ring will remain in place throughout the budget session.

Section 144 will be imposed in the Lower PMG area to prevent unlawful gatherings. CCTV monitoring will keep the Assembly and nearby zones under constant watch. The entire premises will remain under strict observation by the police administration to ensure safety and order during the crucial session.

“Around 35 platoons of security forces and approximately 100 officers will be deployed for security outside, within the premises, at the gates, and at various other locations. A Special Tactical Unit (STU) has also been designated to handle any potential anti-terrorist activities. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been stationed at seven different spots. Additionally, a sufficient number of personnel in plain clothes have been deployed. These measures are in place to ensure that the Budget Session is conducted smoothly,” the senior cop Singh said.
