Malkangiri: A massive rescue operation has been launched by Odisha Fire Services personnel to rescue three persons who went missing after a boat mishap in Saberi River of Malkangiri district.

As per reports, two girls and a youth of Kumbharguda village under Moteru panchayat were crossing the river in a country-boat when it capsized Friday evening.

Though a rescue operation was subsequently launched by the fire personnel, the three missing persons could not be traced due to poor visibility after sunset. The search operation however resumed this morning.

Reportedly, all the three persons had gone to Chhattisgarh and were returning to Malkangiri when the incident occurred. It is suspected that during their return, their boat lost control and capsized in the water.
