Bhadrak: At least three persons were killed and two sustained critical injuries in two separate road mishaps in Bhadrak district on Friday.

According to reports, two persons were killed and another injured after an SUV dashed into a stationary truck from behind at Cinema Hall Chhak near Tihidi market in Bhadrak district early morning. The deceased have been identified as Dilip Rout and SK Puhan while the injured Bichitrananda Padhi is undergoing treatment at the hospital. All three were working as security guards in IOCL.

Sources said the three were going to Chandbali from Bhadrak when the mishap occurred. While Rout died on the spot, Puhan and Padhi were rushed to Bhadrak Hospital after being rescued by the locals. Puhan succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Padhi was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.

Although the exact reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, it is being suspected that the SUV driver could not see the truck due to dense fog in the area.

In another incident, one person died and another injured following a head-on collision between two trucks near Ranitala area on NH-16 in the district.

The injured identified as the helper of one of the trucks and a resident of Assam has been admitted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition.
