3 including woman killed in road mishap in Sonepur

Sonepur: Three persons including a woman lost their lives following a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a car near S.Patrapali area on Sonepur-Sambalpur road last evening.

The deceased woman, identified as Suru Bhaena of Nadanmal village in Sonepur was returning home along with her 4-day-old baby in a car from Sambalpur when her vehicle hit a bike near Patrapali. Two persons riding the bike, Paban Bag and Naresh Bag died on the spot while the woman was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition. However, the doctors declared her dead.

Rudra Sa, husband of the deceased woman, said “Suru had given birth to a girl child just four days back at a private hospital in Sambalpur and was returning home in the car after being discharged from the hospital. But she met with an accident.”

“While Suru died at the hospital while undergoing treatment, the condition of our newborn girl is in critical condition. She has been admitted to the Burla hospital,” added Rudra.

Following the mishap, palpable tension prevailed in the area as irate locals set afire two vehicles and staged a road blockade.

Meanwhile in Nayagarh, another motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a mini-truck from behind on Kuanria Bridge near Durga Bazar in Daspalla area.
