Junagarh/Kokasara: A pall of gloom gripped Mathura village near Junagarh in Kalahandi district following death of a class eight student in a road accident this morning.

According to reports, one Dharmanand Bagarti was run over by a private bus this morning, when he was returning home on his bicycle after plucking flowers. The mishap took place on NH 26. The deceased was a class-VIII student in a local school here.

Enraged locals blocked the highway demanding adequate compensation. They blamed careless driving for the mishap.
Reports suggest that district administration and police have reached the spot and persuading the villagers to lift the blockade.

Earlier last night, the NH 26 near Kokasara town witnessed another road mishap that saw two dead and one grievously injured. The mishap occurred when the bikers were trying to overtake a bus. While overtaking, the trio lost balance and had come under the wheels.

According to reports, IRB Jawan Khirasindhu Dharua, who was deployed at Koraput had come to his native village for the Nuakhai fest. Purna Nayak, a home guard, has reportedly asked Dharua for a lift since he missed the bus to Moter.

While Purna Nayak and Khirasindhu died on the spot, one Pintu Patnaik was undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is stated to be critical.
