Bhubaneswar: Affordable housing for economically weaker sections (EWS) in the state capital will not be a distant dream as the Stat government is all set to start construction of as many as three big-budget housing projects totalling Rs 236 crore.
 
The government has identified three different locations on the outskirt of the state capital where a total of 2,088 dwelling units for the EWS, Low Income Group (LIG) and Low and Middle Income Groups (LMIG) will be built.
 
According to officials, the government has earmarked Rs 165cr for the Subudhi Pur housing project where as many as 1600 units will be constructed covering an area of seven acre.
 
Similarly, an eight storey building project has been proposed at the Kalinga Nagar K-4 Zone covering 3.51 acre area. Though the exact number of housing units has not been finalized, the government will invest Rs 58 crore in the project meant for the EWS, an official said.
 
Besides, a four-storey building project will also come up at the K-9 Zone in the area with an estimated cost of Rs 13 crore. The project has been designed to cover at least 1.59 acre area.
 
On Sunday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of all the above state-owned housing projects.
