Bhubaneswar: Twenty-two employees of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have bagged the prestigious Prime Minister`s Shram Awards-2011.

They are among the 68 employees from all over the country selected to receive Shram Awards being given by Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, RSO sources said today. In the "Shram Vir" category, 3 teams and one individual employee of RSP have been selected for the Award which carries a cash prize of Rs 60,000 and a `Sanad`.

One team of employees comprises Emol Kumar Tigga, Rabinarayan Das, Tapas Ranjan Sahu, Maheswar Murmu and Krishna Chandra Behera of Steel Melting Shop-I.

From Tonnage Oxygen Plant-I Department a team consisting of Rabindra Kumar Sahoo, Virgil Kullu, Kailash Chandra Patra, Dilip Kumar Sunari and Sujal Kumar Barik bagged the Award, sources said.

The other team of employees comprised Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, Kalandi Charan Behera, Kushal Majhi, Jagajoti Padhi, Nakul Mahato, Pramod Kumar Baral and Rabindranath Mohapatra from Repair Construction (Mechanical) Department.

Bhaktahari Mahapatra, of Tonnage Oxygen Plant-I Department currently working in Tonnage Oxygen Plant -II bagged the Award individually, they said.

A team of employees from Instrumentation Department comprising Sahadev Badaik, Librius Kerketta, Sukra Bara and Gopabandhu Patel have won the "Shram Shri" Award which carries a cash Award of Rs 40,000 and a `Sanad`.

RSP CEO G S Prasad has congratulated the Award winners on their stupendous achievement and said this feat was a result of their exceptional commitment, competency and zeal.

He expressed his confidence that the Award winners would inspire their colleagues in the years to come the RSP collective would blaze an even more vibrant trail of glory.

It may be noted that every year, the Prime Minister`s Shram Awards are given to the employees working in the Departmental Undertakings & Public Sector Undertakings of the Central and State Governments and Private Sector Units in recognition of their distinguished performances.

In the year 2008, six employees of RSP had won the Shram Awards, while in 2009, thirteen employees and in 2010, eight employees had bagged the Shram Awards under different categories, they said.
