Bhubaneswar. In a bid to give a boost to health sector, the State Government will soon set up 20 hospitals under public-private partnership (PPP) mode. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced this here today.

The hospitals will bring an investment of at least Rs 1,000 crore in private health sector and generate direct employment opportunity for around 10,000 people in para-medical sector, said a release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

The hospitals will be constructed under the Hub and Spoke model of the state government's affordable healthcare project.

"While some of these hospitals will act as hub (central hospital), others will function as spoke (branch hospital)," the release read.

Initially, the total bed capacity would be around 2,700 that will fill up 56 per cent of non-availability of hospital beds in the State, it added.

These hospitals will be accorded accreditation of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare (NABH).
