Cuttack: The authorities of Ravenshaw University on Monday suspended two students for two years due to alleged involvement in a series of blasts at the office of the Vice Chancellor (VC) last night.

Sources said the university's Staff Council meeting passed a resolution against the two students - Aditya Alfa, third year commerce and Sudhansu Kumar, first year science.

"Alfa and Kumar have been suspended for four consecutive semesters as the university’s inquiry committee found them to be guilty. Both the students were present in the group who hurled bombs at the VC's office last night. They cannot be boarders of the university's East Hostel during this period,” said Baishnab Charan Tripathy, VC of the varsity.

Early in the day, the university officials lodged an FIR with the Malgodown police station against three students and their associates who had thrown four bombs at the VC's office damaging properties.

A scientific team had reached the spot and begun a probe into the series of blasts.
