Keonjhar: Two Maoists were arrested and a huge quantity of explosives and weapons seized from them from a forest in Keonjhar district on Monday, police said.

The rebels were nabbed during joint combing by elite anti-Naxal Special Operation Group (SOG) police of Keonjhar and Jajpur districts and CRPF in Khajuridani forest in Telkoi area.

Huge quantities of explosives, two rifles, ammunitions, Maoist literature, uniform and medicines were seized from the two ultras.

While one of them Trilochan Mahanta functioned as a messanger for top Maoist leader Sushil alias Basanta, the other named Laxman was an active cadre of Kalinganagar division, Keonjhar Superintendent of Police (SP) Asish Kumar Singh, Jajpur SP Deepak Kumar and CRPF Commandant Pritmohan Singh told a press conference by here.

Kumar said ultras were intending to return to the mainstream by surrendering before the police would be provided necessary help.
