2 killed, over 20 injured in separate road mishaps

Keonjhar/Bhawanipatna: At least two women died and more than 20 persons were injured in separate road mishaps across the State this morning.

In Keonjhar, two women morning walkers were killed after being hit by a vehicle near Sadar Police Station. The deceased, identified as two sisters hailed from Raisuan village.

Tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a protest over the incident. Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and launched probe.

In another mishap, more than 20 passengers were critically injured when a bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and overturned near Kapurmal under Jayapatna police limits in Kalahandi. As per reports, the injured have been admitted to the Jayapatna hospital for treatment. Later three seriously injured persons were shifted to Bhawanipatna district hospital.

Some passengers said driver of the bus en route Kesinga from Shastiguda lost control due to the mud-filled road leading to the accident.

After receiving information, Fire Services personnel reached the spot and carried out rescue operations.
