2 Killed, 20 Injured As Bus Overturns In Khurda

Khurda : At least two persons were killed and around 20 others sustained injuries when the bus they were travelling in overturned near PubuSahi under Town Police limits in Khurda district today evening.

The road mishap reportedly took place when driver of the private bus ‘Narayani’ lost control of the vehicle allegedly due to overcrowding. The ill-fated bus overturned while it was on its way to Khandapada from Bhubaneswar carrying around 50 passengers, said sources.

Khurda Town Police and a team of Fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the victims with the help of locals, sources added.

The injured persons were later admitted to the Khurda District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

While one of deceased has been identified as a native of Pangarsingh village under Begunia Block of Khurda district, identity of the other deceased is yet to be ascertained.

Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
