Bhubaneswar: Fate of as many ten thousand students already taken admission into different Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in state hangs in balance following the state government’s ban on admission into 192 private ITIs.

A recent letter from the State Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET) directed the above mentioned institutes not to take students for the current session. According to the letter the decision follows the 2011 May-June inspection report.

Interestingly while the technical institutes have completed the admission process by July 31, DTET issued the letter on the same date that reached the concerned institutes in the first and second week of August. The association of private ITIs has threatened to plunge into legal battle if request to the state government to alter the decision not considered.

Incidentally all the institutes of Puri and Bargargh districts have been banned from taking admission. There are 638 ITIs in the state of them 32 are government-run.
