Bhubaneswar/Bolangir: At least 14 members of Budi Anchal Sangram Parishad (BASP), who were fast-unto-death in jail protesting against construction work of the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project, have been hospitalised as their condition worsened on Thursday.

Notably, on Tuesday, 70 members including Ghunu Sahu, president of the BASP were arrested for trying to obstruct survey work of the irrigation project and remanded in judicial custody by police.

Work on the irrigation project has reached its fourth day amid heavy security near Magurbeda village. The administration has started the work of the right wing canal of the proposed spillway of the project.

Meanwhile, the Lower Suktel Action Committee (LSAC), the pro-project group held a bike rally from Bolangir to Magurbeda to create an awareness among the locals about the benefits of the project.
