A 13-year-old boy from Mathasahi village under Rahama in Kujang block of Jagatsinghpur district has been missing for the past five days after he reportedly fled away from his home after being scolded by his mother.
Despite extensive efforts by villagers and family members, there has been no trace of the minor so far.
The missing boy has been identified as Adarsh Behera, younger son of local resident Umakanta Behera. According to family sources, Adarsh left the house suddenly and has not returned since, triggering widespread concern in the village.
Mother’s Desperate Wait
The boy’s mother has been spending her days at the doorstep of their home, anxiously waiting for her son to return. She is seen breaking down repeatedly, with tears streaming down her face. In moments of despair, she pleads for her son to come back, promising that she will never scold him again.
Dipanjali Behera, Adarsh’s mother, said, “My son has been missing for the past five days. We are trying our best, but we have not been able to find him yet. We had a small argument over money, as he had taken Rs 200. I told him that since he had taken the money, his father would return home and scold him. I did not raise my hand on him.”

She revealed that she went out to fetch water, and when she returned, she found that neither her son nor his bicycle was at home. Initially, she thought that he had gone nearby to watch a match that was taking place in the area. However, when it became late and he did not return, they began searching for him but could not find him anywhere. She added that a case had been registered and the police officials were trying to trace him.
At times, she lights a lamp before the deity and prays fervently, while at other moments she clutches Adarsh’s school bag, books, and clothes, crying inconsolably. The emotional toll has been severe, with the family reportedly not lighting the hearth or cooking food for the past seven days.
Police Investigation Underway
A missing person case has been formally registered, and Tirtol Police have launched an investigation into the matter. Efforts are ongoing to trace the boy and ascertain his whereabouts, as the anxious wait continues for the family and the entire village.
