Rourkela: In a major seizure, the officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Thursday recovered 11 kg gold while it was being transported in Howrah-Mumbai Jnaneswari Express.

As per reports, a team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence conducted a raid on the train while it was between Rourkela and Jharsuguda and recovered 110 gold bars weighing nearly 12.932 kgs from the possession of two passengers who are believed to be traders from Mumbai.

The cost of the gold bars is said to be around Rs 4.99 crore. The passengers were found to be carrying smuggled foreign gold bars and further investigation is underway.

Sources said that the team had information about the illegal transportation of gold through Janeswari Express. Both the persons have been detained and are being interrogated in connection with the incident.
