12-Year-Old Girl 'Sacrificed' In Odisha

Bolangir: Palpable tension prevailed in Sindhikela area of the district after allegations of sacrifice of a 12-year-old girl came to fore.

As per reports, Sobhaban, the son of one Musur Rana of Salebarat village asked her 12-year-old sister to accompany him to the bus stop five days ago. But after several hours, the girl did not return home and went missing.

After the incident, locals alleged that since Sobhaban had just returned from jail recently after being arrested on charges of human sacrifice, he must have murdered his sister to fulfill his wish of offering human sacrifice.

Apprehending fury of locals, Sobhaban approached the police before the locals filed a complaint in connection with the incident. However, tension erupted in the area after hundreds of villagers gheraoed Sindhikela Police Station demanding arrest of Sobhaban.

Meanwhile, taking note of the case, Titlagarh Police said that probe is underway.

Titlagarh SDPO Surendra Satpathy said “He (Sobhaban) was released from jail after bail by Orissa High Court in connection with a human sacrifice case, so the villagers are under the impression that he might have done something wrong with his sister. We are looking at all angles and interrogation of the suspect and others is underway.”
