Bhadrak: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Dhusuri area of Bhadrak district on Friday following to a dawn-to-dusk bandh observed by a local outfit over poor healthcare facilities in the area.

The bandh call was given by Anchalika Vikash Parishad over several demands to improve the healthcare service at the primary health centre in the locality.

Almost all the market complexes, shops, schools, colleges, banks and other offices remained closed during the observance of the bandh today.  However, some emergency services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.

The protestors blocked national highway near Dhusuri by burning tyres. Vehicular movement came to a standstill due to the agitation and several vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road.

The members of the outfit are demanding appointment of permanent doctors at the local hospital, regularisation of jobs of paramedical staff, permanent ambulance service and 24 hours healthcare services at the hospital.

The outfit threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands are not fulfilled at the earliest.
