11 new faces in BJD dist prez list

Bhubaneswar: Two days after dissident MP Pyarimohan Mohapatra alleged that the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was manipulating the organisational poll, the regional out fit on Tuesday declared names of its 31 organisational district level party chiefs.

While 21 have retained their respective posts, as many as 11 found their way to the coveted portfolio.

The new faces are: Vijay Ranjan Singh Bariha (Bargarh),  Babuli Mishra (Bhubaneswar), Pratap Jena (Cuttack), Dr Nrusingha Sahu (Dhenkanal), Naresh Mohanty (Jajpur),  Pratap Deb (Kendrapada), Raghunath Sahu (Khurda), Saroj Karna (Kandhamal), Mukunda Sodi (Malkangiri), Ramesh Majhi (Nabrangapur) and Sudhir Das (Rayagada).

Earlier BJD returning officer Pravat Tripathy had said that the party leaders were trying to bring a consensus favouring candidates with more than 80% support from the voters.

In a reply to Pyari ‘s Sunday allegation that party’s district chief posts were being finalized through ‘moolchal’ (negotiation), Tripathy countered that when Pyari was looking into party’s organisation he was involved in moolchal.

According to party insiders, the results of the party's state council will be out on January 21 while the party would elect its next president on January 28.
