1 killed in firing during immersion in Nayagarh

Nayagarh: One person was killed and a woman injured in a firing during immersion procession of Viswakarma idol at Natugaon village under Itamati police station in Nayagarh district today, the police said.
 
"One body has been recovered from the spot and the injured woman has been shifted to the medical college hospital in Cuttack," said Nayagarh SP Abhimanyu Nayak.
 
The deceased was identified as Lachhman Parida (56) and the 40-year-old woman was yet to be identified. Parida was a Congress supporter and local party leaders accused the ruling BJD to be behind the killing.
 
The identity of the person who had fired was not yet known, the police said.
