Balasore: Four days after a wild bear mauled eight persons to death and injured eight others in Kotpad area of Koraput district, a similar incident has sent shockwaves in Nilgiri area of Balasore district where a man died after being attacked by a bear on Thursday morning.
 
Sources said, the wild bear has also left seven others in Radhaballavpur village injured including a forester who tried to pacify the animal, believed to have come from the nearby forest.
 
The victim identified as Jaykrushna Barik (75) was attacked by the bear when he was roaming near his house in the morning.

The critically injured official, Shyama Singh of Nilgiri Range has been rushed to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack.

This was the third incident of a bear attacking humans in the state in last one week.

While the female bear in Kotpad was lynched by a furious mob before it took the lives of eight persons on Saturday, a 10-year-old wild bear was killed and burnt by a violent mob in Turumunga police station limit of Keonjhar district last Friday.
